i’m a dedicated member of those of us who love to throw parties, especially a themed dinner party! i think i get it from my mum — the ultimate hostess. recently Q Squared invited me to check out their beautiful collection of melamine dinnerware and throw my own soirée with their Cambridge Rose set in crimson. the pretty dinnerware is inspired by vintage English romance, but i felt an instant Chinoiserie vibe, so i thought what fun it would be to put a bit of a spin on it and throw an exotic dim sum dinner party!
i wanted to give my table a funky edge, evoking Chinese motifs to contrast the more traditional look of the Cambridge Rose pattern and mix it with some black & white stripes, a contrasting floral print tablecloth, chinese paper lanterns and of course, chopsticks to complete that Chinoiserie look. oh, and i hit the flower mart for some hot pink peonies and added some exotic blushing bride proteas as well.
we served sparkling pink lemonade in Q Squared Aurora Crystal Cut drinkware, an assortment of delicious dim sum and spring rolls on their Cambridge Rose serving platter, and a chopped chinese chicken salad in their serving bowl. perfection! and what’s so nice about Q Squared’s melamine dinnerware and drinkware is that it’s shatterproof, dishwasher friendly and will hold up to years of use and abuse — great for outdoor dinner parties, too, but looks elegant enough to serve inside!
